My bike looks just like Bluethunders without the upper and lower fairings, alittle darker though. I figured without those fairings it would be concidered a naked model. I could be wrong

First you take a 26 question test, all common sense. Then you need 30 hrs riding before you take your road course. Though i dont understand how they would know how many hours you would have.....We have a road course behind our motor vehicle station. They want you to stop with the front tire in alittle square box keeping the bike up without putting your feet down. Then you have to swerve between 2 cones and stop in a box. Figure eights to there length (wich i dont know). My closest figure eight is 4 parking spaces about 2 cars long. I dont think thats even close to what they want. Theres is smaller. Any tips on this is appreciated Like i said i only have about 270 miles under me riding. Thats only from my house to he next town back and forth to work lol. Am still on a permit so thats all i know so far for a road test.

Umm, do you have to take a full bike licence at some point?

What was told by my instrucor was do ever decreasing circles, good throttle control is key here for this, praticse riding along in first slipping the clutch keep the bike going as a slow as possiable whilst not wobbling and staying upright, not putting feet down!

Take it easy with your bike, and get to know what it can do, as you form a realtionship with your bike you will know what it can do and how it does it!

Also more training, get some experince of riding and get your licence, get the first done and get some advanced training, it will help trust me, i did a course here in london with the Met bike cops, was a good day and their in pratices everytime I get on my bike!

is it getting cold in NJ yet? Have been to NYC, Ny Upstate Long Island before had fun there!

Well good luck dude, lets us know how you get on and most of all enjoy, you sounds exactly like me. I love to ride

Ohhh its getting cold! kinda wish i had this urge to get a bike in spring lol. The first night i got it home i went out. It was about 20 degrees out, that was cold lol But am so excited to ride i really didnt care. During the day its averaging 50 or so morning around 30. I drive everyday to work unless its raining or going to rain. Had the bike not even a week and alreay 270 miles :P oh well.

I was thinking bout the training course. Its 180$ for a 8 hr session. I think they provide bikes. If i could bring mine i would rather do that. I dont want to get on a 500 seeing i wont be familiar with it. I want to use mine for a road course to get the liscense.

Figure eights. I found it alot easier to lean the opposite way of my turning. Is that a no no? am not a big guy or anything, 145 pounds, if that makes a difference. Ill look more into the driving courses and take your advice.

Yeah do the training on own bike if thats the one your doing test on.....it will help.

How to explain turning, u-turn. From what I remember when I did my DAS training the instrucor said that the bike should fall to the inside, and you can move flick the bike the bike with your hips into the turn look where you want to go.

You have look at where you are going, so if you look at the kerb you will hit it. Make sense? The bike goes where you look, being looking where you want to go and the bike will follow. Its sounds starge it did when I was leaning, but your body knows what to do, its getting your brain around it!

Have a look at that it might help. I'm a newbie as well to bikes, i'm sure the far more experinced riders on org will be able to give you better advice. But one thing for sure extra training is good, and worth while just make sure that are the right people to be teaching you!

KillaSV

Welcome to the site. I am similar to you in that I passed my DA in August and have had an SV650S K3 for about a month now. I still have yet to get it to full throttle, still not got it above 8K and haven't had the balls to go above 80, but like you, I absoultely love it. It freels great when you open it up a bit and I love the sound. Still having the odd snag with the torque at low revs and have stalled it a couple of times but I'm sure I'll get used to it soon. Guess I just need to rev it up a bit, but its all about the confidence. I have done about 200 miles since I bought it and have loved every single one. It would have been more but the weather here has been awful and I am not that confident in the wet yet. Also I am not overly keen to be out at night. Just roll on the Spring and I'll be bolted to it 24/7.

If you are interested in the sound of the exhaust, have you looked at the home of this forum, www.sv650.org and then click on the Goodies section. There are a number of sound bites there, although my favourite of the lot is the SV with no can at all. Not sure it'll go down well with my neighbours though.

Enjoy your new bike and ride safely. All the best

Stradders.

Thx for the welcome.

I have checked the exhaust tones in goodie area. Nothing there sounds right to me though. All sound similiar. I think my problem is i like the way the gixxers,cbr's,r6's etc sound. Am not gonna get that out of this bike i can tell. Its funny though i cant stand the fart cans they have on civics here etc. Am a v8 rumble kinda guy, always was. But on bikes for some reason i love it. When i do decide to change the cans i think its not because of the sound, more for the looks. The stock can is WAY to bulky for my likings
