when my kids were at primary school, They would have a nit weekend. The idea being that kids were re-infecting each other. So if over a set weekend, every kid and their family, ie. siblings and parents would get treated. In theory come Monday morning, the school should be nit free.

However, there was always the problem that some parents would be in denial of the problem and refuse to treat their kids, additionally there was always the issue of should you pour chemicals over the head of a nit free kid just in case there may be on lurking.

God just typing this is making my head itch.

There's no such thing as either Dungeness or Orkney head lice, and you can't make a decent pate with them.

We've never used the shampoos. Answer is to comb, comb, comb. And condition, condition, condition. You need good light to see the horrid little things. And you need to be sure to get the eggs out, by catching them with your thumbnail.

I've never had headlice, which i guess is a good thing. I must be clean, or dirty....either way

There was one 'outbreak' at my school in the 10 years i was there. Therefore i can't understand how its a continuing problem...oh well.

I suggest all parents shave their childrens heads....problem solved.

I blame some of the parents...we(the wife) regularly check my daughters head for them and as mentioned before, the only things that work are the plastic combs and conditioner type stuff...and yes, get the eggs as well...between two fingernails!

If I went and asked my youngest that we check her hair, I'd get a knee in the knuts. She's, erm, not that social, being 14 and 3/4.

I would never say such a thing about you.

What I meant was that to catch crabs, you actually do have to have sex with someone, anyone, but another person is needed...
