Worming a dog: wrap the tablet in bacon and toss it in the air.

Good luck with cats!

And my smile (well, cringe) of the day. Just got back from Kwik Fit, that well known wallet emptiers that I have noted in the Gripe thread, where I was treated to the site of a total shed of a 1998 VW Sharan arriving with an interesting front nearside tyre. Quite how anything was left is beyond me as the guy had driven FIVE MILES on a complete flat to get to KF. He had a spare wheel but could not get the wheel nuts off so he destroyed the rim and goodness knows how much of the South Bucks road system getting there. The technician struggled for nearly half an hour to get the wheel off and swapped over. The tread layer was only just attached to the sidewalls, as in I could get my fingers through as I was chatting to the guy. He was rather proud of making it - I was just glad I was not stuck behind him as he would have only just been in vague control. Scary stuff.

Tonight my kitchen smells amazing. I'm making tomato chutney (see photo a day thread) and in the oven are a home made lasagne that in total takes 3 days to make, plus lamb shank Madras curry for tomorrow but instead of rice I'm roasting potatoes from a local farm cooked in goose fat and sprinkled with Indian spices.

Yummy.

Went up to Bisley and shot 600 yards with a 7.62 for the first time. I was a bit rubbish but still great fun. To be fair, shooting 50 yards with the left handed gun I always shoot with (also first time, I usually shoot 25 yds indoors) I did quite well. The 7.62 was right handed, the jacket and sling were borrowed (mine is left, obviously) so the fact I hit the target all but once made me very happy. Minor gripe was that youngest, who came up with me, didn't get to shoot the 600 yds because he was last to go and some jobsworth marker decided 1/2 an hour early that the light wasn't good enough to continue. Which was cack of the highest order - the mist had finally cleared and was the best it had been all afternoon - I guess he wanted to go home early. Brilliant day apart from that

Long range was always fun, especially with a pistol. for which I had a single action Blackhawk chambered for .30 the same round as used by tank crews and cooks issued with the 30m1. I did try my Redhawk with .44 but it was just too savage. I have shot 1000 yard at Bisley when I had a T4, but it was a bad windy day and I was terrible. The 7.62 could just not cope with the gust or maybe it was me that day. But the furthest I ever tried with the t4 was the 1200 yard at Sealand but usually settled for 1000/ 600 yards at Altcar as local.

Happy days, but time, kids and changes to law put an end to it all. living/Working in China and negotiating with the Lancs cops by telephone to extend my FAC was interesting.

I'm amazed you got it extended. I got so much hassle here in Norfolk that, as I hardly used my .243, I eventually gave up and sold it. Kept the little .22lr though. That was easier as I have permissions from several farmers to shoot rabbits on their land.

New front tyre arrived today - date on it 11/16. Must have come direct from Spain.
Never knew PR4's were made in Spain.

Finally got round to upgrading my A2 licence yesterday. Had the MOD 1 at 11:10 - Passed with no minors, MOD 2 was at 13:35 - Passed with 3 minors.

Happy days!
