Performance didn't suffer any, I got within half a second of my pb even tho I was down on top speed by a few mph. Did I miss them, not really, for this season I don't need a belly pan for hill climbs hence why they're off.

Sounds good - but thinking about it the last 2 trackdays I've done (Mallory and Castle Combe) a rev counter is essential for the noise test. The warning lights are probably useful as well - might tell you when you've lost your water....

We've run very naked SVs for track days for the last couple of years, no clocks at all. Noise tests have been a bit of a negotiation but there's no requirement to have one so we've just picked a believable amount of throttle. Been fine.

So the practice at Cadwell paid off today, in the first round of the Auto 66 hillclimb / sprint championship I managed to come away with the class win.
To be fair there were only four competitors in my class, the other three bikes were 2x tricked out er6s and a classic Norton ES2. Next round in May! No pictures yet but a video instead:

That's pretty good. So you also beat all the 750+cc's bar one!

Well its been a while since an update so here goes:
The second round of the hill climb championship had its ups and downs. The first day of the weekend went well winning class 4 again, but sadly there was only two bikes in the class so a hollow victory I guess. But I did get a new personal best time up the hill which was also a great feeling Then on the Sunday we had horrendous weather so I didn't go. Others did and when the weather finally cleared after Lunch, they got points and I didn't. In hindsight I should've gone and waited it out, BUT i do remember situations where I've been sat in a car for hours in the rain thinking "What the hell am I doing here!" and then never doing that activity again! So never mind, we'll try to make up the deficit over the last three rounds. Here's a shot at the last chicane: ![]() Quickest time yet:
In the meantime I've been working with a German engineer who came up with a great Gyrocam solution. You may have seen the other thread detailing that. Yesterday was the first time I got to use it on track and I'm pleased with the results:
The garages were nice, first time using one on a trackday, so much nicer than a windy field! ![]() |

Another item I had always wanted for the bike was a lightweight battery.
Org member "MilleMille" recommended a Shorai LFX09L2-BS12 so I finally decided to buy one! It arrived today so I cracked on with fitting it. First though I wanted to make some comparisons: Firstly, look how small it is!! ![]() So the standard battery weighs 3.74 kg: ![]() The new one weighs 0.6 kg: ![]() So a grand weight save of 3.14 kg. Sweet. Next I checked so see if the battery required charging, the instructions say that it comes with 70% charge in it, and indeed it would seem so: ![]() So I slotted it into place, wired it up and she started just right. ![]() Happy so far, question is, will I be able to tell the difference? Probably not! But hey, why not. Next job is to cut half an inch or so off the end of the foot pegs to stop me grinding them away. I've looked at fitting other rearsets but all of them would increase the height of the pegs and that will just do my legs no good! Also need to find a good pressure gauge to make sure tyre pressures are bang on to halt the wear as you may just see from the last photo. Rebound might be a touch slow too so some good old head scratching suspension tuning on the cards ![]() I'm guessing it was just the pressure because both tyres exhibit the same wear patterns, nothing aggressive but could be cleaner I think.
