Re: Vintage film cameras
With great synchronicity, the FX D and the lens arrived together. I just picked them up from the P.O. this afternoon. Lens is great, thanks. It'll do the job. The camera needs a little TLC. A reskin for a start, a clean up, new seals & mirror bumper and that silly plastic battery cover coin groove is almost gone. BUT... it works and the electrics are fine so I can't complain.
Bit of a downer on the Certo. Someone worried they're not going to get enough on it or got an offer from elsewhere. Good images from the Akarette too. Not bad for an old machine. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
The x700 still not working after a new capacitor?
- - Just been on the net and had a thought ... which way round did you do the polarity? Last edited by yokohama; 20-01-17 at 08:14 PM. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
No, still doing the same thing. Don't know if I can be bothered to try for the upper one.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Is there any life? Are the meter lights still coming on temporarily?
What about the polarity on the lower one? which way did you put + and - ? On the video, with the guy repairing the x300, he said the - was the outside contact. According to a forum post I just read, the 700 is different. It has the + as the outside contact. Maybe worth a try. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I made sure that I kept the stripe in the same place. Negative in. I actually made the mistake of soldering the original one back on first time! Meter still lights up but no juice to fire. I get a little squark from the battery check now that I didn't before. Maybe if I leave it on it may need to to charge?

Re: Vintage film cameras
It's a lovely camera. Well worth sorting it out if you can.
If you've got electrics could it be a mechanical issue? I'm guessing the mirror is up. Is either that or the shutter stuck? |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Meter is working fine, battery check now working fine. Mirror is locked up though.

Re: Vintage film cameras
A couple of suggestions I've read on Minolta forums...
Open the camera up at both ends, put fingers lightly on the shutter curtain leading edge from each side and gently push it forward. (sometimes it can stick in the rail) Check the idler gear under the bottom plate - a phillips head screw next to the white gear can loosen and jam the winding ratchet. |
