My instructor had one and swore by it...

Why has the question arose? Want a more comfortable ride?

If I had the cash it would be a KTM SMT...

Yes, I want a more comfortable ride, something that I'd only have to fill up once a week if I rode it to work, and something a bit better than what I have. I've got to the stage where although there's nothing wrong with my bike, I just don't want it any more

What have you got right now? Is it an SV or something thirstier? Why not get a V-strom cheap? I wouldn't get a Versys, as I think a v-twin would win out for me...

edit: maybe a triumph triple of some sort? sounds like you are bored with what you have so need something more fun (?) but you want something that also runs economically...?

SV with gsxr forks and a few other bits. I don't really want anything big and thirsty, I don't need any more power than I have already. And I want something I don't have to modify to make comfortable Versys seems to fit the bill, I'm not sure what else does.

If you like the v-twin from the SV why not go for a V-Strom 650? Would it still need modifications? Is the versys a lot better? Just curious...

Doesn't handle as well as the Versys, the Versys is a very sorted bike, does everything well.

I've thought about one

Not to mention they're cheap!

i'm supposed to be saving for a new car but although I want a new car, I really want a new bike

Well i'd recommend a versys, but then i'm biased

Try and sort a testride out, they're quite marmite really
