Yesterday was the last round of the 2015 Auto 66 sprint / hillclimb championship.
It was a fantastic day with only bikes involved so we got loads of runs up the hill and I was able to start lowering the times even more. I've started to ignore the timing results during the day, except for my own of course, which allows me to stay relaxed and focused on my own riding. As soon as I start looking at the times I need to do, I try too hard and lose the smoothness. In fact this is exactly what happened in my last run, it turned out to be the new PB but could've been even better had I just tried to go at 99% not 101% I braked far too late for the last chicane and had both tyres skidding a bit! Somehow though I clocked a new PB of 46.88 seconds. Class 4 was nicely full this time with 9 riders taking part. I knew at least one other rider was very quick on an ER6 supertwin so my aim was to beat him. Sadly though I was 0.1s behind him at the end of the day and 0.84 seconds behind the winner of class 4 (another ER6 supertwin) finishing 3rd in class. Being so close behind them will mean good points anyway so looking forward to the final standings for the year which will be out next week all being well. As usual another video, you can see how much I messed up the last chicane, probably losing 0.25-0.5 seconds just in that bit!

Looks like there's a problem with the vid. Great stuff though man. I wonder what direction you'll go in next season.

Try that, my bad.
Next season the hillclimb championship will only span 3 weekends instead of 5. So combined with that, I will be trying out some circuit racing again. Looking to try out a new track to me, Croft up near Darlington and of course Cadwell park. NEMCRC are a small club who race at Croft so will be joining them for 2 weekends, then we'll see what else I can squeeze in. |

After finally noticing my rolling resistance was rather poor (Compared to my mates SV) I decided I'd finally get around to rebuilding a set of brake calipers ready for next season.
So out with the brake cleaner and dremel tools to clean all the bits up: ![]() I've been watching plenty of rebuild videos so the bits went back together nice n easy even if one of the pots felt a little stickier than the others. However I put the compressor on to see how they moved and decided it was alright and maybe a little dry without the fluid in yet. So back together: ![]() And for your bonus tip! How to bleed your brakes in the comfort of the office: 1x Spare fork leg 1x Spare clip-on 2x Toothbrush to jam between the pads. Hey presto, all done! (Don't worry I will check and bleed again in the New Year) ![]() Other jobs for winter: Replace the discs. Replace the Radiator. Refresh the paint on the Tank and Seat to remove gravel rash from Darley Moor. |

Just read a big portion of the thread. Great work and some GREAT results in your championship.
Are you the maker of the gyrocam mounts? I'm after one and have been watching this website. http://darewarelabs.com For a while now as I was going to buy one of their mounts as soon as they became available. Their website countdown 'launch' keeps resetting every 90 days though. If you want to shift a few gyro mounts and get a headstart on them, or sell the remainder of your products before these guys come and sew up the marketplace, you've got a window to do so. If you have some on the shelf ready to go I'd be very interested in purchasing one. |

They've got other competition to contend with in the USA so it doesn't bother me. The design we have is smaller / lighter than everyone else. I'm not doing it to make a fortune. It just helps fund what you see in this thread ![]() |

Quick update:
I've just been thru and updated all the non-working image links where possible. That was a pain. Also, a new Radiator from Delkevic has arrived so will have photos of that soon. The petrol tank is away getting the dents removed and the gravel rash sorted out. I will be respraying the seat unit myself when I can find room in the loft to do it and then things can get back together for 2016. Should be fun with a mix of circuit races and the hill climbs, lets get cracking!! |

The winter period has been productive for the lil ol SV.
I stripped off a few bits including: Brakes (As you saw a couple of posts ago) Fuel Tank Radiator And Seat unit. ![]() After which I took the forks out too and replaced the oil. The fuel tank was in a state after the Darley Moor incident from 2014: ![]() ![]() But today it came back from the paintshop and looks rather nice! ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I swapped over the bits n bobs from the old radiator to the new Delkevic one. Easy peasy and then that was fitted too. ![]() So all going well so far, just need the seat unit touching up which I'll have a go at soon: ![]() |

I did my best with the seat unit, adding some filler to the bits where the top coat of fibreglass had been peppered with gravel.
Then set about respraying in the loft. Never a great way to do painting but it works. And as I always say, you can always cover it with some stickers ![]() ![]() |

First ride out for the wee 650 this year, Cadwell Park on Easter Saturday.
The bike performed faultlessly apart from the brake lever guard came loose. Managed to throw it into my leathers pocket on the assembly start line! In amongst the 40mph gusting winds I managed to pull two seconds of my best lap times, getting down to a 1m 51s lap. I can still see plenty of room for improvements but not bad for a very cold March day. I made a video to discover where I was gaining any time on track. Often the laps on track feel very similar, I had no idea one lap was two seconds quicker, so making this video helps me understand a bit better!
Also a few shots from the day: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The only major downside to the day was that I managed to break the TT2X temperature system when I started the bike with the monitor connected. A spike in the bikes's voltage managed to break a small voltage regulator on the Arduino board, so I need a new board and TFT screen. Nothing major so will learn the lesson and include a better voltage regulator to supply the whole device next time. |
