In no particular order... The must own albums for the different moods and times in my life.

Nirvana - Nirvana (Just cos they're the greatest band)

Morcheeba - Big Calm (For chilling)

Radiohead - The Bends (Iconic album of the 90's (for me))

Leftfield - Rhythm & Stealth (For Phat Planet, the rest of the album's good)

Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine (Greatest band ever, wait.. I've already said that )

And at the moment I have Saves The Day - Stay What You Are on most of the time, which is good imo.

If it's just 5 CDs then I'm afraid I'd have to do the Alan Partridge thing and nominate a few compilation and "Best Of" albums

Chicago - The Chicago Story
ELO - All Over the World
The Who - Then And Now
Then maybe Royksopp - Melody A.M
and Daft Punk - Homework........ooh or Discovery, maybe I'd scrap Royksopp for both.

Led Zeppelin's fourth, untitled, album.
The Who - Who's Next
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
Nirvana - Nevermind

That said, if you asked me the same question tomorrow it would probably be 5 different albums, I could never come up with an 'all-time' top 5.

All time top 5 in no particular order

Oasis: What's the Story Morning Glory - for singing along
The Verve: Urban Hymns - for soulful, meaningful tunes
Godskitchen Classics CD1 - for getting me down the motorway with fierce aggression and general excellent tunes
Eminem: The Slim Shady LP - before it all got too commercial for him
RHCP: By The Way - generally brilliant

If I could add a sixth, Alanis Morisette, Jagged Little Pill.

If I could add a seventh....(only joking!)

Cheers,
Matt

Didn't have a clue so checked the most played on the i_Pod. So I'll go with that:

GNR - Greatest Hits
Eagles - Greatest Hits
Don Henley - End of the Innocence
Echo and the Bunneymen- Crocodiles
Simple minds - Once Upon a Time
Sisters of Mercy - Vision Thing

Yeah it surprised me too!
