Fortunately I got through my teens before I discovered bikes otherwise it would probably be a different story, but in the thirty odd years since I've been incredibly lucky and am still a road crash virgin.... Now if we include competition offs or work stuff I'd be a proper slag!

4. Three proper ones and a soft one...
1st one I learned overbanding can be slippy slidey as I lost the back coming out of a corner. No damage to me but my pillion got stabbed in the thigh by the pillion peg. Some damage to bike. First year of riding. 2nd one, proper **** up! Poor obs and poor skills led to me panic braking, going over the bars and flying superman style between moving cars. Broken ankle and dead bike, killed the car the bike hit. Luckily no damage done to car passengers. Second year of riding. 3rd one is well documented on here, target fixation, small cliff, bike, sky, road, sky, road, ouch. Broke same ankle, killed the SV, scared the crap out of Pete and Lisa. Tenth year of riding. 4th one, comedy 15mpg low-side as I learned the limits of lean on knobbly tyres.... Twelfth year of riding. |

Only one soft one on the 125, dark wet road in torrential rain, went over a manhole cover whilst breaking for a junction and slid about 3 meters, picked the bike back up and carried on, bent front brake lever and a 1 inch grind on the right hand fairing, even managed to scuff the palm of a glove and a pocket on my jacket! So after two and a half years i must have ap proper one coming.

That's the problem with private roads, the suicide sheep.
