Hovis yes this is 100% true. Jason began doing this when he was a young player at Wigan.(I speak very highly of him despite me being a Saints fan since being a kid!) Being a top star at a very early age he did go off the rails a little. He came under the influence of a Kiwi,(do you remember Inga the Winger?") From then he turned his life around and is an excellent role model for anyone. He is a Yorkshire lad you know?
As to whether any of this has any relevance? Well I think in this day and age to have a more "rounded" personality in the running cannot do any harm. For many though I am sure that none of Jason's attributes beyond the sporting arena have any value at all. |

I have no problem with Hamilton getting a look in. Many in past have won but with just one season in the general public eye so I don't see he shouldn't. he didn't win but has won a lot in his route through and its difficult to dismiss the fact that he was as close as you can get without getting it in his first season. He has had the benefit of a good car and team but that does count for a lot in F1.
Others may deserve it more but since its a public vote will probably reflect current hype he stands a good chance. I wouldn't be upset because it has always been that way to some extent. I don't follow it much - has Paula Radcliffe won it before or just been a runner up? |

No Priaulx, and some questionable choices, but at least JT made it. |

here are the revious winners:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Spo...ist_of_winners remarkably, F1 is the sport with the most winners. I had thought that Foggy won it one year, but obviously not |

Although the keyboard playing, national anthem singing WSB champ should be recognised ask people in the street and 90% will say "James who?".
Maybe it ain't fair but it'd be the same for me - however good someone was at their sport I wouldn't vote for them if I'd never heard of them and wasn't interested in their sport. Last edited by Well Oiled; 01-12-07 at 11:12 AM. |

Only one motorcyclist John Surtees. Good to know we at least have one.

Well I'm a little shocked, but JT has made the short list for the SPOTY.
Voting is on the 9th of Dec during the show. |
