I really really really want to keep him, he is so cute. Phil doesn't want to though I want to take care of the little dog
Thats pretty selfish of you. A family might be going crazy right now looking for their dog.
If I lost my dog and found out someone had just decided to keep it because it was cute, I don't think I'd be very happy

But you could always console yourself with the fact you saved them a fortune on Oriental takeaways that week. There are millions starving in the world and we keep edible dogs well fed just so we can throw them sticks and stroke them... it makes no sense to me.

I caught a stray a few years back, big older black lab, lovely strong beast but no collar etc- he came into my branch one day, well, he followed a bitch in Caused absolute chaos, nothing better than adding a dog to the workplace, so I got him outside and sat on the wall talking to him and holding onto him for a couple of hours til the council dog catcher guy turned up.

The reason I'm posting was that I felt really guilty for the same reason, he was lovely, and I was kind of terrified he'd been put down... so I phoned up a couple of days later and he hadn't been claimed. A while after that he was taken from "lost dogs" to "dogs needing homes", and they passed on my details, a while after I got a call to say he'd been rehomed. And at new year's I ended up at a friend of a friend's flat and met a big black lab, now called Jake Thought a happy ending might be of use to you.

Well obviously if he belonged to someone I wouldn't keep him, and maybe I should have specified that i wanted to keep him if no one had claimed him after a while! Wouldn't just take him home straight away assuming it didn't already have a home.

yeah, thanks. I hate the thought of him being cooped up with no one to love the scrappy little thing!

Not sure what dog it was, the body was about 1-2 foot high and about 2-3 foot long and it had fairly short, grey curley hair. Kinda looked like it might have terrier or jack russel in him (same pointy-ish snout).

He was very friendly and obedient (didn't need a lead on him, you just called when he stated to wonder and he came back!), he was also v comfortable going into a strange house and even my car.

As mentioned, he had a collar but no tag. Ran a scanner over him at the cop shop and no chip either. He was still a proper dog (still had the minerals if ya get what I mean?) and had a few marks over his body (ie older scratches) looked like he hadn't eaten properly in a little while too and was in need of a bath. He had either escaped from a home a few days ago and was wandering aimlessly or he was a homeless guy's dog.

Anywho, the police took him into their kennels for the weekend, then on Monday he will be picked up by the dog warden and taken to the cats and dogs home.

Their was a girl in the police station when I got their that seemed interested in talking her dad into letting her take him home (she already has 2 dogs, 3 cats and various other animals, many of them rescued) as he had such a warm and friendly personality so hopefully he will be re-homed very shortly.

Unfortunately, we don't have the time or money to look after an animal properly so I would never consider taking one on, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the little fella.
