I would have expected you'd be used to the pi$$taking by now then

I think you're on the right lines buying a used one, you can get them fairly cheap, I'd say the earlier the better as there's less complicated stuff on them, but I have a curvy, so I'm biased. Then you can decide where to go, wish I could insure 2 bikes so I'd have a spare in case of offs and such.

Really? Either they've really pulled their act together at Ducati Glasgow, or they're not the same folk who were there 6 years ago. I found them the rudest and most unhelpful dealer I've ever walked into. When I went in I desperately needed a new BT020 fitting to a ZZR1100 front wheel because I'd wrecked it on a deep pothole near Fort William. They weren't interested, just couldn't be bothered to even speak to me about it. When they finally did allow me to come to the service desk, they informed me that because it wasn't a Ducati and they'd have to rejig the tyre changing machine to suit, they would be charging me ?120 for the tyre and ?50 to fit and balance it. I informed them that I wasn't stupid, and had used tyre changers myself so there was no re-jigging of the machine to suit a Kawasaki wheel, whereupon I was told "it's ?170 or you don't get it done". At the time, a 120/70 BT020 front was about 75 to 80 quid in any English dealer

I took my business elsewhere, I won't be ripped off by anyone just because I appear keen to get a job sorted soon.

The Ride results are screwed though, they depend heavily on customers giving good reviews. You get happy customers sending in their good reviews to the magazine, so very few are likely to give a bad review because they can't be bothered.

I'm not being at all funny when I say this, but I am very surprised that Harley dealers don't get Ride mag results like this, because having done business with a few of them, they do offer fantastic back up and help to their customers.

My local dealer always has a naked and an S in stock on the showroom floor. He reckons he sells as many naked ones as he does faired.

My opinions have been gained over 30 years of riding, owning and spannering all manner of motorcycles, you may not like them but I'll express them anyway - I see it as a valuable service to society. If someone saves themselves grief and money from not buying something that is crap, then my work here is done.
I would really appreciate it if you quote me again not to leave important words out.

My comment about 'your views' referred to your harley comments, which you've now admitted you don't like them.

And as far as I can see, we're on an SV-forum no-one else is interested as said before.

I found Ducati Glasgow VERY helpful. I sat on loads, and they gave me a big photo of the actual bike I liked.

That's pretty much the exact opposite of standard opinion on information gathering and surveys- people are generally more likely to complain than compliment in any survey which needs them to take the initiative. Negativity's the stronger opinion. Plus, the dealer survey is a small part of the larger survey, people don't fill in rider power just because they want to tell the world how great their local dealer is.

I have owned a 1200 sportster and have riden several other harleys and its a matter of personal choice, i personaly like them on the right road at the right time and mood they are the perfect bike! just depends on what floats your boat, i have to say i wasnt impressed with their build quality and i do think they are over priced and you do pay for the name as opposed to the engineering.

I've quoted the whole of this post, just to reinforce that I've never snipped any of what you've posted in this thread, because you're implying I have somewhere. I'd be interested to see what text of yours you think I have omitted, and what relevance it might have had to your side of the discussion.

When I reply to a post I usually hit the 'Quote' button and snip out any non-relevant text, I certainly don't edit the original post for my own gain. In this thread, everything I've quoted has been quoted in full.

I do not have a side in your discussion.

I said that i wasn't interested in your views ie you trying to see if you can get me to start a discussion with you. I said thank you no to that. Go back and read for yourself.

You go an slag off Harleys to your heart's content. Guess on who it reflects badly?

Chill Winston

People have opinions on all sorts of things, I spent a cheery part of this afternoon changing the front sprocket on a Honda Hornet 600 2007. They don't attach their sprocket covers in a way that makes them easy to remove and I found it to be a pain in the bum... It's not enough to make me hate Honda but it was enough for a few choice mutterings.

If Lozzo doesn't like Harleys, he's entitled to that opinion, and he's free to express it. If you want to find a place where people all like Harleys a dedicated forum for that marque is a good bet. People like what they know, some people know Harleys inside out and love them, others know Kawasakis or Susukis and equally rate them above other manufacturers. Doesn't mean you have to take it personally, or that these people have no advice worth following, just that you don't agree on some things

Peace and love
