If you look at the tech-specs of a Z1000 compared to a Z750 you can see there is less to the Suspension set up on the 750 than the 1000

One dealer sums the Z750 up as

"90% of the Z1000 @ 75% of the price"

the difference in price is £1500

For £1500 I can add a LOT of ohlins if I want - or consider ZX6 front ends, or even Z1000 - it seems to me that the Z750 and the Z1000 are the same bike with regards to many physical bits - they even have the same engine - a ZX10 one that is retuned to produce more low-range and in the case of the Z750, sleeved.

So keep an eye out for the right Z1000 crashes and get a new rear end - or a front end cheap

But thats all future possibilities

Oh forgot to add (now corrected in post1) that its the ABS model.

To add something constructive to this thread...

Whenever I sit on a Z750, I always think how it feels the most perfect riding position of any bike I've ever sat on. It just feels right

Funny thing is, despite being used to a slighly more upright position thanks to the Viffer, I HATED the Zed's position at first - I actually considered turning it around and going back to the dealers to try something else.

I felt like I was sitting up on the tank of a CG125 - it the front seemed very easy to turn - like a shopping trolley wheel.

This was, I figure, caused by the lack of anything in front of me - the lights and instruments are quite low, and no fairing meant nothing in my field of vision, hence the feeling of being waaaay forwards, and the bars, well they are not clipons, so I believe they SHOULD feel lighter to steer.

But took it out for an hour and loved it - it started out with me trying to figure out if I could live with one - at that point with the criteria I had it was the Zed or a Fazer - no-one had announced the 07 £4k SV deals at that point.

Really looking forwards to it, as I think it might suit me VERY well

Its surprising how much you do lean forwards though - I thought about this yesterday as I rode to Southwold - for a straight barred bike its quite "leany".

True - and things changed a lot as I got used to the bike and yes, leaned over the tank a bit

Specially at the speed limit on the M23

Well done, you now have a bike with Kawasaki spelled right on the tank, unlike all the fools on here who spell it S-U-Z-U-K-I... It'll be faster, better, make your naughty bits larger and more naughty, and you are guaranteed to never crash again. Such is the power of Kawasaki!

(For proof of the "no crashing" thing, look at Sid Squid: had his Kwak 10 years, hasn't crashed once in that time...)

Love the look of the Z750, was considering an older one myself before I plumped for the SV.

There was a recent road test in a mag though (I forget which) comparing the Z with the other mid nakeds around, fazer, hornet, triple, GSR600?..

It really took a slating with the triple coming out way on top. I doubt I'm experienced enough to notice the differences they were stating as 'glaring' though and I think id get on just fine with a Z. But these articles do play in the back of your mind.

Still looks damned schmexy that bike!!

Yeah, but the Hornet is a Honda, the Fazer is boring, the triple is too expensive and thew GSR600 is a weak, bland version of the B-King - which would have been my choice if I could have afforded the Insurance (and too be honest, had the skill/confidence to ride)

The Zed however, as mentioned IS sexy - and all that black.....
