It's supposed to be on the front left hand side of the bike, in front of the engine. A great deal of leniency regarding this is given, however, on account of fairings etc. often making this impossible. I've never heard of anyone being done for displaying it elsewhere, even on naked/semi-faired bikes (where there's less of an excuse). Personally, I put mine behind the pillion pegs on the LHS. Visible from the kerb and much more crash proof than on the side of the radiator (don't want to damage my lovely ?25 carbon fibre TDH ).

Pedantic I know, but hey, I'm waiting for some emails to come in.
I very often miss point entirely (sometimes delibertaly), however,
the position of tax disc is offical legislation.

I could actually try and find the piece of legislation and exact wording but that's too much effort Display your tax disc

Display a tax disc on the passenger side (kerb side) of the vehicle?€™s windscreen. If there?€™s no windscreen or you have a motorcycle or sidecar, display the tax disc on the kerb side of the vehicle.
The tax disc cannot be transferred between vehicles.

*edit* Ok currently very bored at work so...
(highway code)
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). All motor vehicles used or kept on public roads MUST display a valid Vehicle Excise Duty disc (tax disc) displayed at all times. Even motor vehicles exempt from duty MUST display a tax disc at all times.
[Law VERA sects 29 and 33]

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1994...#pt3-pb2-l1g33
(this is the pdf of the relevant law)
Not exhibiting licence

(1) A person is guilty of an offence if—
(a) he uses, or keeps, on a public road a vehicle in respect of which vehicle excise duty is chargeable, and
(b) there is not fixed to and exhibited on the vehicle in the manner prescribed by regulations made by the Secretary of State a licence for, or in respect of, the vehicle which is for the time being in force.

At this point I give up, I can only take so much terminal boredom...

Front LHS, using the bolt where the brake line clips on.

Didn't know it was illegal there, and it just passed it's MOT that way, so all good!
