I only say that because I am often in a riot van and love stopping people - it takes forever as the blue lights are so high up and noone knows you want them to stop !!

As for the assume thing ... bit of a personal joke, my ex used to say it to me all the time and it used to get on my bits too LOL sorry folks think I will shut up now and SMILE

It certainly would take some time.

I would have considered it my little project.

Anyway I'm following the Paneuro and come to the bottom of the hill where there is a long bridge to go under (tunnel like), so I need to stop coasting and put some gas on......as soon as i let the clutch out BANG BANG BANG, exhaust was popping all over the place.

Luckily he just looked around and went off in another direction lol.

LMAO, Yeah, following you, I was cringing at exactly the same thing. Guess it sounded worse from the back though.

I expect that would just wind the copper up and get you nowhere.

Can't really see a transit van making much headway compared to an SV in heavy traffic

It wouldn't be an effective method, it would however be hilarious

Don't bank on it. I've been stopped by one.

How about this one Andy: Chillax.

I'd pass on a zig zag. Never even considered it's illegal.

Okay why were you in a riot van. what had you done Shelly!? (it's okay, I get that you are an officer).

But would you pull a bike for filtering over zig-zags in heavy traffic?

Me pull a bike for filtering over zig-zag's ..... nah don't be daft!! Got better things to do

I use my discretion unless told otherwise by the higher ranks .... if you had made a stupid/dangerous maneouvre then you may get a tug, words of advice etc etc ... I probably would go into Woozle mode and talk bikes for ages .. dribble and wish I wasn't at work.

I am a nice police occifer

I did exactly this in Kempton/Hampton area today and the 2 police cars i passed wern't interested. I was more worried about being pulled for my exhaust.

I also saw a police bike today, i havn't seen one for ages. He was going the other way and slowed right down and took a really close gander at my can. I let him go around the corner then blasted off.

Traffic are generally those who will pull you for specific stuff such as Con & use offences as there is quite a catalogue of offences which during our training, you dont cover. You have to specifically look for those offences in traffic duties manuals. However, generally if you think something isnt right, it generally isnt and there is an offence there somewhere. It then depends upon the discretion of the officer to choose what action to take. For a response cop who is a slave to the radio, they might be less inclined to be proactive in their traffic duties.

There's nothing wrong with what you did.

You are entitled to overtake any vehicle within the zigzags EXCEPT the vehicle nearest the crossing.

The zigzags on the far side are related to parking, not overtaking.

Rule 191 in the new highway code:-

191

You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You MUST NOT overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

[Laws ZPPPCRGD regs 18, 20 & 24, RTRA sect 25(5) & TSRGD regs 10, 27 & 28]

HTH.

Chris
