I don't think sending our ex-prime minister's son would make the slightest bit of a difference, but if Gordie's kid was old enough....

Any service personnel on here - how would you feel if he was working with you? Would you feel even more compramised?
he landed back in the uk at about 11:45 today. While I was waiting for the roads to dry I put bbc news 24 on. They scrapped "Click" the technology show, as they wanted to have live images of harrys plane touching down and him walking off.

Personally, I still haven't a clue what he's like, just because he's been to afghanistan and seems a sound bloke for the cameras, he could still be a child abusing satanist or an undercover scientologist for all we know. Can't see the point in forming an opinion on someone based on media coverage. Though his brother does seem a total monkey

It was documentary footage, filmed for later use- but once the story got out there was no reason to save it.

Which is fine, but it's not really the same situation is it? He would have become a specific target at far greater risk than other soldiers- it's reasonable to assume that he'd become pretty much the biggest target in the country. That wouldn't just endanger him of course, it'd also endanger others in his unit for no real purpose. And if he was to be killed or captured, that'd hand a massive victory to the guerillas, again for no good reason. Very good reasons for not putting him out there in the first place, and for getting him out once it becomes public.

Just depends how well known it is that he's there, doesn't it? It's not a risk as long as they don't know he's there, or where to find him- just like Prince Andrew in the Falklands wasn't an operational risk because it wasn't realistic to specifically target him.

You can't have it both ways though, you can't complain that they sent him out then complain that they bring him back.

+1

Now in the media that he's coming home, so back to the status quo really, except they're all freezing, which should make life a little easier.
