£750 TPFT quote from express insurance very similarl situation to yourself.
(that's on a new SV - give express insurers a ring)
As people have been saying don't forget the gear. The £400 is a bit on the low side if you include theory test/cbt/lessons/test which for myself came to around £600 I think.

Good luck mate

It will only be really expensive for lessons if you are over 21 yrs old as if you are under that age, you can only learn on a 125cc. Not 125cc and 500cc like over 21's. It just means you will be on a restricted license for 2 yrs or when you hit 21 yrs old. Then again things might be expensive where you live and might bump up the price. Well, a month ago it was about £90 for a CBT, £60 for practical test and £25/hour bike hire(petrol inc). £25 for theory test. I dont think it will cost too much like.

Has a new remus slip on can, gear indicator, full lower fairings, replacement for the rear seat and a few other nice bits, it has only covered 5k on an 05 plate, and 1 lady owner (not that that means anything cause most woman drive faster than us lads anyway lol) So to be honest im tempted. I also put my car up for sale too on Pistonheads!

I sat on it and I was pretty shocked how light it felt. Suspension felt good and all the instruments were present and correct. I think i could know him down to 2500 with a bit of persuasion/baseball bat usage haha (i do not endorse violence)

Stu.... Yeah, thats a fair and valid point you make about the exhaust...thing is where would i get the strap from? It is specific to that exhaust? Comparing it to the bike i saw today , i personally prefer the latter, but it all depends on the above question.

Soulkiss.... Thanks for the heads up about the full system thats available. There is a video on youtube of an SV650 and its got the M4 high rise system on. Looks and sounds stunning in my opinion! And you absolutely right about dropping it. No matter how careful you are, some idiot will pull out, black ice, oil etc.... anything!

Alpinestarhero... That sounds like a fair price, and i agree with the student bit. Thing is, i need a bike to get around up in lancaster uni when i go, and if i get a job, a bike is the obvious solution! Ive just had a quick look at quotes online with thebikeinsurer and its come back as tpft 465 english pounds lol, which i think is a bit of a bargain! And the info about the petrol usage is peachy too...much appriciated. During times like these where we are being absolutely caned for using any jungle juice, it just makes financial sense!
The Freeflow exhaust is not a full system - just a slip on.

Also you do NOT want lower fairings.

They look cack on a pointy and cost too much to repair if you drop it.

If you bought one with those on I would advise stripping them and putting them somewhere safe for a year or so, or even better - stuck them on ebay and make a couple of hundred quid for them.

Yeah.... agreed about the lower fairings. I was planning to use some of my limited entrepreneurial skills and flog them on eBay, because they seem to quite rare on there. And with regards to the exhaust i didn't think it would be a full system for a 110 squids... it would be a bargain though lol.

Ive also been looking round at the costs of tests and found a local centre that are doing the CBT and accompanied test with bike hire for £305 LINK (just click on prices on the left hand nav bar) They seem to be quite reasonable but i think they train you over a period of 7 weeks, whereas i want to be sorted asap.

Can Anyone recommend any decent Bike security/bike alarms and the website to purchase them from?

I just got time off work and 1 day long lesson and test the next day but I practised a few hours before my test. I would say, if you are doing it then you should book it yesterday, these dates go so quick so you should get theory test booked as you can't book practical test without it. I know practical test dates are getting further away too. So, just to cover your back, say you fail, you will have time to book and re-sit another before the test changes.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean if i fail my theory, then atleast i can just re-sit it again before the practical test?
