Well as a bit of reassurance there, a friend of mine had one (from new), the ABS had a habit of letting the brakes off at totally random and unpredictable times. My mate ended up in the middle of junctions a couple of times because the brakes came off.

BMW don't appear to recognise this as a "fault".

He now has a TDM.

No. Newer SV;s are cack; the older they are, the faster they go. Also, yellow is the fastest colour.

So a 1999 yellow curvy would be a better bike

Only joking You made an excellent choice, the SV will teach you alot about riding, and will never hesitate to make you smile. Infact, you should have got one sooner! Mines restricted, and I'm having a blast!

i am pretty sure you will really enjoy it.

the sv is my first big bike after passing my direct access. i rode an nsr 125 on cbts for a few years and got so sick of it because it was so unreliable.

i then bought the sv which was heavily modified and must wow i havent had a boring moment on it yet! it makes me smile everytime i ride it.

i would love to ride a standard sv one day so i can see what they are like with standard suspension and engine etc

You'll love it. Although that's got to be the most expensive way to get a bike, on a credit card! Ouch.
