tip for curvy owners with no money,in the middle of the aifilter theres a plastic tube with a 15mm ish gap at the bottom for the air to get through.if you cut out the tube you get increased air flow and more power.is a good tip that i have tried.

No, not by its self and as Chris said you will need to rejet!

Restricted SV owners, stick with the OEM airfilter it runs much better!

I've heard the same - that K&N are more restrictive than stock.

What strikes me though is that according to Alpha Sports ( http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm ), the air filter part number for the 650 is the same as the 1000, so is the standard air filter really going to rob a 650 of power if it flows enough for a 1000?

Good point me thinks.

The mostest gain, in the main from after-market filters is that they can be cleaned IMO .

+ 1, the only real time a proper performance filter is gonna be of any performance increasing value is when it is used with a full system and a rejet/remap!

Yes K&N's biggest inprovement over OEM is its ability to be cleaned over and over again, and similiar with the BMC filters unless you have the hardware and tuning to go with your airfilter then there is no performance increases!

I appreciate there'll be no improvement gains but will the K&N sort out any running issues with a race can or is the only way forward a rejetting of carbs?

See attached post for explanation http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=168174

Just noticed his last post 2009. Someone else may volunteer an opinion.
