I think when my bike was serviced it had to much oil put in, will itdamage the bike or should it drained ect? Thx

It can do, as it can put to much pressure on the bike internals, though it depends on the amount. If I remember correctly it can get sucked back up into your airbox, and then burnt, so this causes the smoking, and will be bad for the spark plugs.

I have definately learnt that if you have too much oil in your engine, it will get back into the airbox. If you lift the tank, and remove the air filter, it can collect in the bottom.
I found some in there, so drianed the oil a little (ok 2 litres odd), then topped up as necessary. If your bike is on a paddock stand, then when you top it up to F, and drop it back down, it may need a little more. The bike needs to be level to get a true reading. Either that, or drain it all and measure it as you re-fil - thats what I'll be doing next time for sure. |
