See what you mean, I reckon if you can weld (dunno if you're willing?) or can find someone who can, it doesn't look massively complex. I'm thinking pipe-style frame like the Ducati frames (what's the real name, oh well never mind) - i.e. just get a few pipes, cut to shape, and basically make a "spacer" frame which you can then bolt the SV subframe to...it's literally just something that bridges the gap between the SV subframe and the main frame, hence the lack of complexity. Just make sure it's strong enough lol

Wrong, cut the old CBR subframe off and weld mounts onto the back of the CBR frame to bolt a standard SV subframe into - that's what someone did with my old GSXR750L to accept a ZX9R suframe and tailpiece, and I've figured a 2003 R1 subframe would fit nicely too. The SV battery box is plenty big enough to accept a CBR's YTX9 battery and there's not much else in the way of electrics, like the reg/rec, to stash away under the seat. Doing it this way gves you more options in future, like if Ducati 1098 suframes become affordable you can modify one slightly and bolt it straight in rather than muck about welding stuff every time.

Sidepanel cover plates can be fabricated using the front of the old ones dremelled and modified to fit, and then painted satin black to set them aside from the rest of the bodywork - a bit like pointy SV ones.
