Ah, but my little loaf of bread. If you buy the rigth tent in the 1st place it a) comes in a waterproof bag and b) is no longer than the width of my tail pack.

What necesetates the length of the tent is the poles. They are going to be the same length if they are in the bag or in your tailpack. And in either situation, probably no wider than the mirrors on your bike...if they are, then you need a trailer!

Its a 3 man tent but its water proof! Also the same pack size as the 2 man. Which I think is a great idea, it doesn't cost too much either. I have some gear at at parents house somewhere which I'll dig out. I have sleeping bag and roll mat so don't need much apart from that! I also just realised I haven't ate really anything since Saturday opps, so I better go fox something to eat, I'm a little hungry now.
Double check that matey, looks like the 3 man is bigger according to the other details bit (below the text).

Good tent though, nice find! I'm going for the 2 man version

that sir is a good valid point...... but alot of tents, including mine come in the longer type bags.

i just think that it looks better, and neater, therefore maybe safer?

We used to carry (before I started riding) a four man tent(aprox 8 kg), sleeping bags, double air bed, panniers, kitchen sink, cuddly toy...me on the back
In more recent years we have shared the load on both bikes, however for the AR I am buying a slightly smaller tent with less weight, as the other one is too much hassle to take down and put away. You really can shove owt on a bike if you organise the load correctly and with enough bungees.......and still have room for the pillion. In fact its a lot nicer for the pillion, as all the gear doubles as a backrest, shame if the pilots a bloke..........your nuts get a bit squashed

I am a mountain leader and have lots of fab gear that I use. My Tent is a Coleman Viper that I have had for several years and have pitched in appalling weather and always stayed dry inside, as for weight it is 2.5 kilos and packs down very small indeed.

I also use a Coleman stove that burns Unleaded petrol, it is bulky but I can get fuel no matter what time of night or bank holiday. I also have a tiny gas stove that I have just bought, but not used yet.

As for a bed mat, I bought a Back Packers airbed from Blacks for £20 and it weighs less than my old thermarest and is about 1000% more comfortable even in snow, pack size is that of a small mug.

All of this kit will pack down into a set of panniers and still leave room for a stash of clothes and my Petzl Head torch

I am still working towards my Summer ML but I do not think I will go for my MIA anymore. I found motorbikes and kind of stopped going climbing!
