Quechua tents are very popular here in Spain,I think they are made by a company here. Pedantic mode lets me share the fact that Quechua is the ancient language spoken in South America even before the days of the Incas. (yawn!)

There is a TV ad for these tents at the moment. Apparently you can throw the thing out and it forms completely and all you then do is choose your spot and peg it down.

Have watched vids on youtube of erecting and then taking down and feel they are a great bit of kit. But do they fold in to a sleeping back type roll for carrying on a bike?

Have a few tents, and sleeping bags, the one I pick depends where I'm going and who with.

Good all rounder 2-man tent is Terra Nova, 4-season Voyager Ultra had it for 10 years and have spent 200+ night in it during that time, still like new. You can leave the flysheet off in hotter weather (God send on an 8000 Km African Tour I did) as it's a pitch inner first. Expensive when new but can usually be picked up 2nd hand on eBay for a fraction of the new price.

If the wife is with me and I want more space for her toiletries (why do women have some many??), I use a Vaude Monolith, and split it with her. It's a nice tent, sleeping compartment makes up 1/2 the tent, it has a higher roof height than most 3-3.5kg tents, means you can stand up to put your clothes and sit on a normal chair inside if its hissing it down. Its about 3.5kg, bought it off eBay new for £90 from Germany, I think..

If I'm traveling solo and light I use a Terra Nova Laser Ultra, less than 1Kg very small pack size, a proper tent (albeit you can't stand up) weighing the same as many bivy bags. I think they do an even light one now, Laser Photon, holds the Guiness Book of Record for the lightest tent 790g. Again expensive new, but last for years and you can pick up some at bargain prices from eBay.
