PS - What do you think is a reasonable amount to knock off for not having an alarm. Price on Ebay is 2700, with 650 miles on the clock. Am happy with or without the alarm / Alpha (As have a garage). Just not sure what is a cheeky amount to ask off?

I'd ask for the cost of fitting one as a reduction, irrespective of whether you actually bother with one. £200-£250 ish I'd say as an opening bid.

I'd maybe even push that up to £300, if you wanted a cat1 alarm fitted without trying to get it as part of a deal on buying a bike, etc, you'd be looking at circa £300. Obviously other types of alarms would be cheaper, and fitting yourself is different, but the rate seems to be around £300 I think.

Aha, found it! My wife's K5 (05 plate) is registered apparently. In case anyone else has tried, it only recognised the bike reg if I didn't put any spaces in it when entering the reg no. in the box (i.e. AB05XYZ, not AB05 XYZ).

I guess I'll have to phone up to see how I go about changing the address details. It's a pretty poor website for after sales service!

RIP SV650 X curvy, crashed and written off December 2019.
I'm (procrastinating about) fixing up an old Yamaha FZ600 to get myself fully back on the road.

Yep i'd ask for at least £200 off, think mine was about £250 so i'd ask for £300 and settle on £200.

Or... a few hundred quid in his pocket (he said he didn't want an alarm - or at least isn't bothered)

Hmm, Alphadot....
Mine has it, but it is registered to the previous owner. Tried to contact them, but office closed. No e-mail contact.

In truth I learned more about it in this thread than from official sources, so thank you again .Orgers, you are consistently wonderful.
