I've gone over 2 weeks having not ridden a bike but had one in my ownership. Now it's been 5 days since I sold my only bike and I'm crawling up the friggin' wall here!

I grew up longing to get my 1st bike, my dad and my uncle used to go biking everywhere together when they were younger...bombing round on the old matchless and velocettes!
I had Barry Sheene posters all over my bedroom walls as a kid and used to walk around the block almost every day to see the lads who lived behind us with their big bikes (Suzuki GS550t, Yamaha XS650 etc). As soon as I was 16, I persuaded Dad to lend me the money to buy my 1st Honda 50cc, then I got a Yamaha RXS (energy induction no less!) 100cc and passed my bike test a month after my 17th Birthday. Enjoyed many years biking, riding my mate's Dad's 250n superdream and my mates CBR600 and then packed in as had started a family etc. Have only now got back on the saddle and enjoy it immensely. The main reason (I told Nobbylass) was reducing commuting costs, but I know deep down, the main reason is to get back on a bike! I chose the SV as a good re-introduction to bikes and have been massively impressed by it. Nearly 2k miles in just on a month and I'm loving it! I openly admit I'm scared witless every time I go out on it, but I think that's a good thing, as every time I got complacement with my other bikes, I had an off! Had some spectacular offs when I was younger, but thankfully a combination of luck, good fortune and less traffic on the roads then, meant I'm still in one piece and learned enough about respecting the bike/road to mean that the learning curve although steep and painful, was done at a lot less mph than would be the case now! |
