Am I alone in this?
I,m exactly the same as above,at one time i used to use my bike in all weathers as it was my only form of transport.

But as we also have a cage as well now, the bike never see's rain unless i;m uexpectedly caught out in it.

I dont mind going out in the rain and tbh could be tempted to go out for a spin in it, but the tyres on the daytona say otherwise (as treacle found out yesterday), they are near enough track/dry weather tyres (standard tyres from new) and tend to spin up quite badly in the wet

I ride in all weathers, mainly cos I commute on the bike. I got p155 wet through on the way home last night! I'm perfectly happy riding in the rain though, I just take it a bit easier is all.

The worst bit about riding in the rain is going to work the following morning and having to put your gear when it's still soggy from the night before, eww!

You would be stunned what is possible in the wet. At Brands Hatch Indy in April it rained for a few of the sessions. I got rid of all bar about 4mm of chicken strips in the wet (marked by where I'd worn the bobbling off the tread again). I never had a moment, and was by no means the fastest person out there, all on normal road tyres.

What the wet does do on the road is make the difference in grip of different surfaces more of an issue, man hole covers for instance can become less fun.

Do YOU actually ride your bike?? or did you just buy it for Treacle?

Have no choice, bike is only form of transport. When I first started riding I used to crap me pants in the dark with rain. But now as I have to get to work in most weathers I think I'm rather confident in wet weather.......I have ridden in sleet before and that was a little scary.
The only way anyone gets confidence in weather they aren't used to is to get out in in, even if its reallllly sloooooow, apart from the nasty 6 foot snow drift on the road of course, then I'd stay at home or get a taxi.

In fact on NW3 dark and rain came on the menu, but after a couple of hundred miles slashing it down, I think everyone was thinking the same as me....arggggggggggghhhhhhhh

Went out on a brand new set of Rennsport roads (v.similar to the Supercorsas) today to scrub trhem in, it was wet but they're not that bad, just have to be gentle with the throttle.

In the wet I've found the SV will spin up all the tyres I've tried, Metz Z4, Diablo Strada, BT020 and Rennsports, I guess sometimes I'm a bit heavy handed

+ 1, I still get my knee down in the rain on the roads with Avon Azaros (800) and Avon Storm (650) tyres. I have full confidence in theses tyres, they tell you everything when you need to know it, and I have full confidence in both my SV's, the handling on both has been set up by me for me, and as for the chassis well we all know how good that is.

It is your riding skill that is more important in the wet than any other thing, it is the biggest component!

Before anybody asks, no I do not work for Avon (Cooper) tyres but I will admit I was invited and have tested a few of their tyres at their track event at Castle Coombe a couple of years ago.

I very much agree with Dave I got Azaros on suzy and Storms on the other Sv and in my standard of ridin( which isn't brilliant) I can do anything with those in the rain. Suzy has been set up perfectly for me, and the other SV glides on a motorway with its higher gearing, not perfect on yorkshire bends, but the tyres boost confidence no end. Still can't get the chicken strip down fully though
