Ive got two moggies (a tortie and a calico) both girls, had both from kittens-Cassie the slightly older one is v much a lapcat,loves been cuddles and demands attention! whereas ninja my younger one will come for a fuss for she feels like it and has never sat on a lap and i dont think she ever will, ive also found that girl cats are usually more affectionate than male cats.

I would just like to point out that my kitten is friendly towards me!!! As Phil is away most weeks Milo doesn't see him that much. Phil is the one that plays rough with him and he comes to me for cuddles! Prob as I am the one who feeds him.

I decided on the blue as in a house we used to share, the landlord had a blue and he was very friendly, loved cuddles, would follow me round the house and would sleep in bed with me and Kate.

We went to the same breeder but this kitten is just a pain in the rear!!

Its a kitten you say.....well Im afraid that will be normal kitten behaviour for a while...but in the meantime, catnip on the scratchpost will encourage him to scratch that, water pistol as others have suggested when he scratches something that you dont want him to.
Feliway is also good for settling in cats to the home.

Castration is proven to calm down and make more homely, friendly and loyal........ (you might as well get the cat done at the same time too mate)

The nuts will be off at the first oportunity but he doesn't care for catnip and the like, he just does what he likes and besides, Kate's not too good on the discipline and rules/boundaries!!!

He was born April 1st and we got him 12 weeks later

The kitten si friendly enough, he just never seems to want cuddles or attention unless it's playing!!!

I bought Kate a British Blue kitten but it seems to have got itself a bit of a personality disorder!

It's not very friendly and rarely sits with you for cuddles. On top of this he's started to become very destructive towards the carpets in the house, even though he has a scratching post and a lovely climbing frame/house to destroy!!

He is 4 months old and still has his nuts so could chopping these off (myself if he keeps destroying my carpet!) make him more friendly or do you have any other suggestions??

I have always had cats, all boy cats. Have their nuts chopped before they are nine months old and you'll get a chilled pussy. My two are nine years old now, and have turned into old slobby cats who perch ont back of the sofa and take an odd swipe at the dogs for fun every now and again,....whilst pretending to be asleep of course

All my cats have destroyed chairs, and climbed curtains in the first few month of life....pure eveeeel in fact, but with lots of cuddles and strokes, fed by hand, games of fetch and football, they've turned puuuurrrfect mieow. I had a persian blue for a few years and shes the only girl I've had, she was nice...for a girl cat.

Most of all a little patience is in order Phil, like I said 4 months is nowt. I have always use water pistols or a quick flick of my fingers on the ears have always sorted mine out scratchin....i just shout oi now and they stop. AND I'm nt saying a big smack just a little 'oi naughty' one, before any one points at me being an animal beater.

It will take time. Ive had loads of cats and found that the boys are the most friendly (when neutered) the girls have always been attention seeking when they want but its all on their terms....

Be patient and you will hopefully be rewarded, remember that he is in his 'learning stage' right now and what you teach him will determine his behaviour for years to come... make your choice wisely...!

lol....god I remember the xmas tree saga....mine used to love sleeping half way up the tree right after pulling the srings of beads off and hiding them under the sofa. One of mine decided one year to take particular delight in tucking into a christmas cake one night. It was sat on the bread bin wrapped in foil...the little toad jumped up on it in the middle of the night and ate the middle of the cake.....naughty boy

total opposite for me!!

we have 2 male rescue cats both of whom are now about 7 or 8 and they're still get scared easily by us and stranger even after all these years. they have been getting better year on year and will now sit on you for a while, but i think some cats just aren't 'that' sort of cat. though in saying that our previous one was the biggest softy ever to us, but would hiss and spit at anyone or thing he didn't know in protection of us (even scared off ALL dogs).

they're all different, but as others have said he is young, so can be taught!!
