I've acquired an SV1000 speed sensor and rotor for my conversion, Barrak (obama?) how did you wire it up? My SV has 1 black/white, 1 red/orange and 1 pink cable and the SV1000 sensor has 1 black/white, 1 black/red and 1 black cable.

The SV1000 sensor uses the same plug as the SV650. I don't remember off hand, but I looked at the order they went into the plug and used that.

If you want, I can check, but it won't be till next week.

I'll also try to get some pictures up.

Ah so i can just plug it straight in? Possibly just need to extend the cables, thats ideal! All i need to do now is mount the sensor in the sprocket cover and put the rotor on with the sprocket. Lovely stuff!

Yeah that's about it. You'll have to figure something out with the clutch as well.

What I did was cut the rotor off my SV650 speed sensor and spliced that into the new sensor. That way I had the factor plug but only one wiring connection. (I suck at soldering)

Did you try it out with the SV1000 rotor? If it is overreading i'll cut three of the lugs off the rotor and see if it reads more like the correct speed then add a speedo healer if necessary.

Is it much hassle to fit the hydraulic clutch as that sounds like a nice mod to do at the same time.

I used a speedo healer from the get go. cutting off a few of the lugs may work, but I think you'll still need to correct it.

The hydraulic clutch isn't to big of a pain. I used the slave from an SV1000, although the 07-08 GSX-R1000 or TL1000R one would work as well. I had to file it down a bit to get it to fit. I used a clutch master from a ZX-14, but any of the above would work as well. I also used a naked SV1000 clutch line.

One more thing, you'll need a different push rod too; A longer one.

The new one should be about 122mm. One came with my slave cylinder and I cut it down with my Dremel.
