![]() Configuring the Router The following setup process should be complete from one of your computers that have been connected with an RJ45 network cable, from the steps above. Click Start, All Programs, Internet Explorer In the address bar, type 192.168.2.1 and press the Enter key By default the router has no password configured , leave the field blank and click Submit to login The Routers setup wizard will now appear. Select the correct options using information provided to you by your ISP. Step 1. Select the type of connection that your internet service provider uses. Step 2. This information is the login information unique to your own account. Enter your username and password in the spaces provided above. Step 3. The setup wizard will give a summary of the setting you have chosen, if these are correct click Apply to confirm and exit the wizard. Note: please wait while the settings are applied to the router. A progress bar is displayed at the bottom of your web browser window. Changing the SSID and default password The SSID is an identification name for your Router. By default it is set to the manufacturer's name, 'Belkin'. You can change this to something else if you prefer. The SSID is the name of the workgroup you will connect to from your wireless computers. To change the SSID, open the admin interface, as shown below: Click Start, All Programs, Internet Explorer In the address bar, type 192.168.2.1 and press the Enter key By default the router has no password configured , leave the field blank and click Submit to login Click Channel and SSID on the left setup menu Enter a new SSID in the box labelled SSID Click Apply Changes Your wireless SSID has now been changed. Default Password To secure the router and to prevent unauthorised people making changes to the setup, you should change the default router password. Login to the router admin pages, shown in the steps above. Select System Settings Leave the current password box blank and type your new password in the new password box and retype the password in the confirm password box Click Apply changes to confirm. Keep your password safe, you will need this password should you need to make any changes to your Belkin® router. Last edited by John 675; 30-03-09 at 06:57 PM. |

thanks john for that, BUT this is the bit i get stuck on "The Routers setup wizard will now appear.
Select the correct options using information provided to you by your ISP." its says this in my paper instructions too but nowhere can i find a setup wizard? i can log into the router like it says but i cant see anywhere for my details? only SSID changes and things like that, not actual isp user names and passwords? i'll have a play later but will offline obviously, will try to get back on later to let you know if ive set fire to it or not ![]() |

... hmm if all else fails your ISP might be able to help but you can manualy configure ISP settings its just a set of numbers that tells the Router where to dial too, whose your ISP?
