Well you passed your test so you have reached the required standard to ride on the road, this was judged by your examiner who probably knows a little more about road riding than your other half does, who is obviously a riding god seeing as he's had his license since July last year...

You wont get any better unless you ride, experience and skills comes from practice and you wont get used to handling a bigger bike by riding about on a 125...

I would think your other half is trying in his own way to protect you. But wrapping you up in cotton wool by not letting you ride will only rob you of your confidence ( if you have any left that is ) and you'll never get out on the road.

In your position I'd be having an almight row with my other half, If I told Liz that she was a danger to herself and I kept her Ducati locked in a container that she didnt have a key for, I'm quite confident she be telling me to f*ck off, collecting all her belongings and swiftly dumping me and going out and living her life just how she wants to.

Everybody makes mistakes and drops their bike when you are first starting out, I know I did, I bet your other half has fallen off his crosser a few times to ?

If he is not confident in your abilities thats his problem not yours. He needs to get over it and give you some freedom in which to learn and make your own mistakes.

Perhaps a compromise could be reached in that you do a bikesafe or get a session with the riding school that you did your lessons with ( that he pays for ) so you can get an independant assement of your riding and then you and the guy or girl doing the assement of you can sit down with your other half give some constructive feedback rather than the barrage of negativity that you currently seem to be dealt.

On a personal level I wouldnt be taking riding tips from somebody with what 9 months road riding experience...

Sounds like if brains were C4, he wouldn't be able to blow his nose...

Speaking of, dave call some of your mates, won't take much to pop the lock off a container...

I also dont understand his logic of wanting you to swap for a CBF600. I cant see how thats going to be easier to ride than your SV is ???? Just sounds like he is trying to get you do to what he thinks is right, rather than supporting you in what you want. Or maybe he just doenst like SV's... Its quite normal for un-educated bikers to think the SV is "for girls" or "is a cr*p bike" he cant blame you for falling off when your not experienced and made a sharp change in direction without any warning...

What is he like with other aspects of your relationship. Is he always the one to be in charge or make decisions ?
