The only way I can imagine this would be, is if you'd been sitting on the tank. Lozzo's a man of quite some experience with a motorcycle and I can't help but feel that he'd have mentioned had he seen you riding off in this manner...

Are you quite sure we're not talking about different things?

Yes I am quite sure, I removed them

I am quite short, and with the extra hieght on the tank, i found it gave me lower back ache

That plus i couldnt reach the bars while i have a tank bag on

Fair enough. Being rather tall and gangly the petrol tank on a motorbike is not something that I ever get that intimate with, even with a tank bag. But I see your point. I'm quite surprised it makes a difference though.

Oh so now size matters

Jambo is right in the sense that i do sit quite far forward almost on the tank but beacuse of the extra inch it means im kinda reaching up to the bars rather than over and down the tank if that makes sense

It tips the top rear edge of the tank into a more vertical position. If you're already on the limit of being able to comfortably reach the bars, it could quite easily be enough to cause you discomfort. Fairly obvious to me.
