I think that's the crux of it, with at least one exception.

I've come off my bike a few times, and broken down a couple of times. Each & every time, someone passing has stopped to offer help. It's either because they're a biker, or because I live in a rural area that they stop.

Rural people have much more sense of community than city folks, so are more willing to help I find.

Whenever I see a bike at the side of the road I'll stop & help where possible. Doesn't matter what vehicle I'm in.

If I see a broken down car at the side of the road, my actions generally involve the thougth process of "do the occupants look safe?" If yes, leave them be unless "Is the driver female, without male company?"
