Never had a deep fried mars bar..

Although my mate knows a place that batters..

Chips?

New one for me, still have to go and see if hes telling the truth.
Also got asked if i wanted my scampi breaded or battered the other day, a first for me also.. Always been given breaded..

Nice Random "idle banter" thread, you'll be getting the ecosse posse a bad name bibio, have you not seen the anti idle banter threads doing the rounds, tut tut, you naughty boy

However I had a lovely Rib Eye steak, sauted mushroom and spring onion sweated in lurpak butter and balsamic vinegar served on a toasted (cant remember itallian name) bread.

Took the stuff to my dads to make dinner for us before watching footie but he'd had his tea so it was all for me

Don't own a deep fryer, intentionally, would be deep frying everything if we did!

Haven't ever encountered a pudding that's not batter clad Bibio! Mind you, when an Edinburgh chippy offer you sauce on yer chips, it's brown! Bleuch!!!!

I thought they just said the expected, "salt & vinegar?" so I of course said "yes please".
Got a bit of a surprise when I realized she apparently said "salt & sauce?"
At least I don't mind brown sauce.

there is a particularly good chippy in edinburgh that doesn't do everything in batter - white pudding, haggis etc.

they have the best broon sauce as well.

When I first met my wife (Glasgow born and bred) both she and the guy behind the counter gave me a look that said "your a nutter" when I asked for salt and sauce in a Glasgow chippie. It's apparently salt and vinegar in the West and salt and sauce in the East. All that vinegar - no wonder she's so "nippy" with me....

I have to admit, my wife makes very imaginative dinners for me and they are all cooked to precision; strangely thay all have a "bing !" sound.....
