I did have a gander around the bike a few days ago. I'll have another look tomorrow

That'd make sense why I wasn't getting a reading. It should be fine then as I was getting continuity on each wire individually. Batter on multimeter ran out. Will need to get another one tomorrow. Then I'll re-test it AFTER I've plugged it back in
I'm going to have a cig and go to bed now, hanging my head in shame haha

OK. Bought my own multimeter today. Resistance at the ICU is also 189 ohms for the pulse generator coil (having reconnected the connector block ). I don't have any way of testing peak voltage, which according to Haynes is the other way to test it. Anyone got one I could borrow?

Any other suggestions for me to try testing?

Cheers,
Josh

Well I'm baffled.. Cleaned the contacts to the ICU with contact cleaner and then sprayed in some WD-40, plugged it back in and it fired straight up.
How odd

Can't remember the voltage readings off the top of my head, but the ones I tested were mostly smack bang in the middle of the middle of the range given in the Haynes manual.
Is RMS basically an average? How would I have tested that? Trouble is (reason I hate intermittent faults) that now it's working as it should, the readings will appear fine, no?

Aye if its working then theres no problems..
What does Haynes give their values in?
I do electronics, and I can't remember what multimeters read in

Vrms is a route mean square value.
No I hardly understand it, all i know, Vrms = Vpeak/root2

I thought RMS was calculated by squaring the values, taking the mean of that and then routing the answer. Anyway, I don't have a way to test that here AFAIK
