I am hoping he'll let me have a go on it, and definately will be trying to get a go, but I know that a lot of people don't let test riders. And I can't even offer to leave a full deposit as the funds only free up if I definately want the bike.

I say - go for it - you shouldn't loose anything at that price.

Keep the SV for a bit to make sure you're happy with the 600 though.

I know it's a completely different bike (it was a 2007) but to cough and splutter I'd expect it to be < 2000rpm?

Needed about 4k to pull away cleanly and no less than 3.5k to keep it smooth on riding.

Don't forget we're talking about a SRAD 600 circa 1996 here not the later model that yours was

Carb balance and setting idle mixture up properly helps loads on those, the carbs are huge so pretty sensitive. My mates one was ok down to 2000rpm or so after this, still no power but it was smooth.

For £1900 I would find a 750.

2000rpm sounds ok. If it runs smooth from there, can't see it being any problem.

A 750 for under £2k, I doubt thats possible unless it's done a bucket load of miles.

Yeah I know mine was a lot newer, I mentioned it

I get what you mean though, but I don't think it should be anything but smooth. Lack power maybe...seems like it might be a setup prob though from YC here...

£1900 seems like a lot for a ten year old banger that has long sinse been superceeded by more modern stuff.Bare in mind for 5k you could find a brand new one if you try hard.

Yes but I don't have £5k. Would love a new one but I'm paying for a wedding at the minute and the reason this is appealing is it will cost me not much more than I can sell the SV for. When you look at what low mileage curvey SV's can still go for, I actually thought the price was very good. So long as the condition reflects the milage.

Was set up on a dyno and they got rid of a flat spot and smoothed it all out
