don't put the tankbag on the floor, put it on the seat when you fill up. Then you won't get any grit underneath to scratch the paint, or even do the buckle up underneath when you take it off, then its garanteed to not pick anything up. Don't let anything get on those magnets.
Been using tankbags for years with no scratches.

I use the only use the "stupid strap" to hold the tank bag over to one side when I'm refueling.....although that can be a bit cumbersome at times.
