Nah just normal LM grease or whatever. It isn't in contact with anything except steel bleed nipple (or maybe the caliper alloy on the seal surface) so it doesn't really matter.

Cheers Chris.

I was considering asking around about caps for the bleed nipples- it seems the front calipers have them. But I'll probabyl just get the grease instead.

Here's another reminder for self-

If one is riding home at the start of a thunderstorm, perhaps wait some before commencing fitment of new brake pads. One tends to get less drenched that way!

Found this in the search thing.

My front brakes are seizing up like absolute *******s now. I'll be riding along to a roundabout and without warning i will go from 90-30 in 5 bloody seconds.

Can anyone tell me what i should expect to pay for new pads? (assuming that's all i'll need).

Chearz

After this thread and 2 million like it, what gives you the idea your pads could make the brakes lock up?

Almost certainly they need a strip and clean instead. Pads might be worn too, but this is a symptom, not a cause.

Worst case, you will need new pistons and seals.

Well i drove a car for 4 years and when the brakes feel weird someone usually says 'oh you probably need new pads' or somethin'. The whole bike world is alien to me so i'm just tryin' to work it out.

Thanks for extra info.

Time and weather permitting, my front calipers are getting an overhaul next weekend, two of the dust seals are blown and one piston sticking on the left caliper, so figure I may as well get them done before it gets any colder . I'm a little out of your way, but you could always pop up to see how it's done (although I've never done this job before) - could have a look at yours for you too.

As YC says, they may only need cleaning.
