Sorry to hear about your unfortunate off. Glad you're all ok. It sounds infuriating. Why the hell did he run?! Did he look like a cycle commuter? Maybe he had more to hide?

I appreciate that many cyclists in London ride like fools but I just want to say that there are decent, careful cyclists out there. It's a bit one sided on moto/car forums. I ride 200-300 miles a week and I hate being lumped in with the RLJing, ignorant and dangerous idiots out there.

I appreciate that there are many idiots who make people like me the target of vitriol from other road users but often, as a motorcyclist, I'm ashamed to be judged on the basis of a small, but significant, minority of other biker's/scooter's actions.

Many cyclists are insured. I'm covered by British Cycling Federation and the London Cycling Campaign.

Hope the wounds heal soon and sorting out the insurance isn't a long-winded process.

Cheers,

Jason

thanks to everyone for their well wishes, the only time I was grateful for having a big ass lol. And to add to Jason's point, another cyclist tried to stop this guy from leaving but wasnt successful so I do realise that there are decent cyclists out there, its just hard to remember when you've had £400 worth of lid for one day....

Sorry to hear of your off soulkiss & vixis

Im glad to hear you both got up and walked away. Helmets, bike kit and the bike can be replaced but you cant.

As for the cyclist...well...grrr!!! I flippin' hate them (sorry to those who are decent and obey road rules). You might manage to keep the bike and your NCB - if you had lots of witnesses and the police turned up, then would it be possible for you to get a statement of some description from the police to say that it wasn't your fault?

Then you could claim off your insurance and get a "no fault NCB"? (if that kind of thing even exisits) I could be talking complete twaddle here but just a thought.

Thats what I am hoping will happen - all the witnesses (there was one woman who came over to check on us, then when a passing doctor came through, she left us to him and went around taking names and addresses of everyone - aparently (although I didn't see it) there is quite a list.

Although as said, I think the cyclist just legging it - another cyclist tried to grab him but he got away - should go a long way towards showing it wasnt my fault - hopefully the driver of the van also said that the cyclist just made a dive for it.

Oh no. Sorry to hear about this and hope you are both relatively ok. A few bumps and bruises will get better soon I'm sure.

Take it easy for a few days

xx

Unlucky Soulkiss, but at least you can fix the bike & both of you are ok. Good to know both you are ok-ish.

Now, is this a double entry on the t-shirt or not?

Oh mate, just read this!
Sorry to hear all this but glad you're both ok if just a little bruised and bashed. Bikes and lids can be replaced in time of course but that is a big bummer to headbutt the ground with your new lid Vixis

A word of advice if another cyclist does this...pretend they're not there! Dont swerve and try avoiding the collision, if anything speed up a touch and keep the bike upright. If the fool dont care for his own safety enough to look over his shoulder before moving across then you shouldnt care more for his welfare than he does.

Had a similar move from some girl on a bike in Regents Park one morning, just stood up and made a massive effort on the pedals to get across the road but no effort what so ever to see if it was safe and clear to do it. Oh and suprise suprise she had earphones in. Thye make me so angry!!!
The screaming at she got from me was enough to scare her out of her skin and make her cry tho, shame you didn't get hold of you cyclist so you could find a way to make him cry too

thanks and yes, although Im pouting about the new lid, Id rather it got trashed than my brains lol. My hip seems connected to all sorts of other muscles, which is a major pain (ha, only when I move). I didnt speak to the van driver I think david did - I was in the ambulence (sic) saying I didnt want to go to A&E (nothing broken, could move everything so wasnt keen on waiting on my sore tush for 4+ hrs) but he agreed with me. On the plus side, never been inside an ambulence or a cop car, so thats 2 things off my list!

David gets points for being a gentleman lol - I was resting on him apparently - no wonder I was thinking the tarmac was awefully comfy! Cops dont think they will catch the cyclist no. They think he prob nicked the bike and although they got the handle, prob not enough dna (I didnt know they did that).

One thing I will say - Im so glad I was wearing full protective gear although getting my new trou (with the thigh protectors in) broken in will be top of my list now!!

Yeh you got the best way of experiencing both of those. the worst way being you have no choice but to get inside and go to where they wanna take you.
Neither vehicle's destination is something to look forward to, well sometimes the ambo aint so bad cos you get to see nurses if you're still awake enough when you get there
