Steel bolts into nice soft (and thin) aluminium stubs - if the bolt's goosed the clutch centre usually is too.

Nick, you're adoring public awaits a response.

I very nearly did the same thing years ago, mis-read the manual and was about to set the weedy little coolant drain bolt to 23Nm when my brain chipped in and said "That's a huge ammount for that little bolt, lets just back up and read that again".

I did check a couple of times... I probably got it wrong.

Fortunately it was the bolt that gave way and not the aluminium. The threads are good, but then they are M6x25mm bolts so it had a lot of weedy aluminium to pull against so I was luck in that respect.

For the record I tried 30nm. Thought thats got to be wrong so I just did them hand tight + 1/4 turn and thats when one popped off. I dont know my own strength it seems. All in I think I was quite lucky!
