That sounds like Shane's bike. He comes to Soho from time to time and the Ace. I asked him about it and apparently its fully legal and the cops cant touch him for it!

I *think* you can legaly wear it as long as its not obscured. I;m sure you'd get pulled a lot and asked why, so if you have the time and patience to deal with that, then you got more time and patience than i have

But i can also see where you are coming fom. Have you seen a pic of Joshmac's bike from the rear? he has twin cans, full sized plate...and lots of melt, burny-ness going on

I'll see if i can find a pic.

You called?

There's the plate. I've put a different one on now, but it's only a matter of time until that one melts away too! lol
Rictus suggested that I cut a sheet of allly that's the same size as the plate and mount the plate onto that to stop it happening again. Sounds like a good idea to me. I'll give it a go

This was near Dunstable. The most distinguishing feature of the bike was the lack of any perceptable exhaust: it was barely any bigger than the headers and about six inches long. I'd be surprised if the guy didn't get pulled every single time he went past a police car.

Joshmac, can't you just get a plate made up using something that's more heat resistant? Or is there a legal requirement for the plate to be made from a certain plastic?

Go on, do ya worst
References to the fact it's purple and sparkly (Paint code BGP according to Soulkiss), missing an indicator lens, running rich and eats number plates for breakfast will not be counted

I've never read that it has to be a specific plastic, only about lettering, size and colour. No idea where I'd go for that though tbh. Probably just be easier to mount the plate on a sheet of ally as Mark suggested.

Possibly. I think it's just the way it's fitted tbh. I need to have a play with it tomorrow (no dirty comments please )
