the cokin filters go into a screw holder. the holder will screw onto your uv polarising filters. All screw on filters are capable of having thing screwed onto them. Ideally you should have a UV filter on your lenses period - it protects the lens fro scratches and it easier and cheaper to replace than a lens. with a filter holder you can have up 4 different filters in place so you could do a soft focus with colours |

Ah ok, I'll look further into that then. I suppose with a corkin I could also use gradient filters aswell?

The UV filter should stay on all the time to protect your lens's end element. The Cookin filter holder clips onto a ring you screw onto the end of the lens, then you slide the different filters into the holder. The ring also stays there all the time. It takes a second to clip the filter holder on when it's needed. Pete

Be aware, there is a difference between a UV and a polarising filter. The UV will be a circular filter you screw into the end of the lens and leave there. The polariser has to go into the filter holder as you will have to rotate it to get the best result, be it increasing the depth of the blue sky, or knocking reflections back.

ASH, I'm reasonably certain I have a Cokin soft focus filter, would have to find it, but think it's a smaller rather than larger one, so probably ok for portraits not shot with a wide angle. Have holders for 55mm and 72mm thread (I think). Where bouts are you, when you're not in superheroland, or a dark smelly lab?
