I have a wardrobe in the shed where all of my riding kit is stored. It has extraction fans in the top and vents plus a low power heater element in the base which is not used often. At this time of the year my feet get soaked every day and my preference is heavy (>90%) wool socks.

Hmmmmmm interesting you choose to have wet feet , each to their own I guess ?

Cheers Mark.

plastic bag over sock

Then put newspapers inside the boot (will soak up the water)

That comment was superfluous really. It is start of the tropical wet and there is already flooding. When there is 2ft+ of water across the road every 20km or so it is hard to keep feet dry. When the temps are officially in the 40's and dry road temperatures are in the 60's or more, plastic bags, liners or whatever are out. My feet would end up pickled in sweat. Yes I choose wet feet over stewed feet, but I would prefer dry feet. When I go south, I simply suck it up if my feet get wet, but even heavy rain rarely troubles me. Those were more superfluous comments.

The point of that post was more about the drying method as per the thread subject line. When I pull my boots on I want them dry. A box with a good air flow, heated slightly (not hot) if temperatures are low, will dry boots quickly enough if the excess water is drained away.

Cheers

I see your point to an extent, but with today modern materials I would have thought the extremes were just what it was developed for ?

But you're right it's getting away from the OP question.

I don't really suffer from this as these days not only do I use robust liners I have 4 pairs of boots to rotate should the need arise , however as far as drying goes, I've found any leather suffers if dried to quickly, my bathroom has underfloor heating through quite heavy tiles and is left on all year round, a side effect is a very gentle heat perfect for drying wet leathers and boots.

Cheers Mark.
