Thulfi, I didn't mean algebra in gereal, I'm not that stupid... but I remember the pain of simultaneous equations, 1973 it was, what a lasting impression they made!!!

What I mean was, did the OP's formula actually do anything or was it mental torture dreamed up by someone with nothing better to do?

ha, my bad..its just i thought this was a general question...cos likelihood is algebra at school/uni level serves only the purpose of getting you through the year and passing exams!

I'm sure you'll be fine if its music related. Once you get back into the hang of it, iirc, its fairly straightforward. Especially as you will be applying it to music which is something you love and understand.

pretty much, it was a question from my lecturer and apparently it is used in programming and stuff

that was the year I started primary school...

Anyway, I recently did half a term of accounting and some horrible thing with ratios for working out interest rates. Learnt it for the exam, flushed the chain, chose not to go on to do the 30 point finance or stats electives - I pay my analysts to do all that stuff for me. Believe me, I'd much rather be reading about diseases!
