But do you really want crowds of youths killing in pigeons all over the place? Cos if its allowed, it'll catch on as a pastime for bored kids.

Tbh, if I went for a rail on my skateboard, and some pigeon planted itself right on the rail and made me fall, I wudda been tempted to whack it one!!

Yes as in shooting them on private land where you've permission to shoot, not within 50ft of a public right of way etc.

Battering them to death in the middle of street would probably not go down well!

so is the private land mallarkey vs public simply down to other people not having to witness the 'horror' of seeing a pigeon being battered to death. that's the only sense I make of it, in which case its not the RSPCA's position anyway. It's not like pigeons have a sense of public vs private land, and they don't exactly ruin private property.

Incidentally, my mate when we were 13...he was by himself in his massive farm of a garden..he hurled a rock right at this pigeons head (god knows why, boys are boys). He said the pigeons neck jolted violently..it tried to fly off, but couldn't..so waddled off into the woods desperately. He's been a veggie ever since..lol go figure eh?!

sounds like shooting rabbits - when you blow half their head off, the other half of the body still tries to run. It ends up making a mini-cropcircle in the grass.
