3 years ago I helped my ex-girlfriend replace the full system on her 65K miles 1989 VFR750K with a stainless Motad one and we had the whole job done in about 3 hours. It involved removing the swingarm to access the exhaust studs on the rear cylinders, but that just gave us a chance to clean and grease the rear suspension linkages and swingarm bearings while we were at it. I loved that bike and used to borrow it whenever I could cos I used to have an identical one when they were a current model.

I believed the HBOL when it said "remove engine" I should have left it in. Still the new engine has more power than the old one ever did so not all bad.

Lesson learned, never believe Mr Haynes books. I read them before sleeping because they are great works of fiction - a touch predictable though because every one of them follows the same plot

Hi Matt
Have you checked out the bikers oracle?
http://www.bikersoracle.com/central/...play.php?f=252
I got my VFR off there just over a year ago for a reasonable price.
As to riding it, I've done 12K miles and I love it. My only complaint about it is that i find it pretty heavy to wheel about, as a commuter though it was ace.
Good luck finding one!

I sure do, possibly would sell it too. the stickers are not lacquered so can be easily removed. Has done 45,000, but has ben maintained regularly and never given any trouble. New battery last year, new brake pads all round and is 'brisk' Would let it go for £2400 with the Givi rack

Mike, I could be very interested. Can you PM me some more details? Is it just a topbox rack you have? Do you have the grab-handles?

I'm not too fussed about the stickers...I'll be looking to repaint a blue one to red anyway!

I'd like to know specifically:

year?

condition of exhausts, tyres, chain and sprockets?

have you ever any problems with electrics, battery aside?

Thanks,

Matt
