simple do the maths
does what you are paying for your new bike example* 6500 pound minus what a 2nd hand bike would cost * 4500 equil up to the knowledge of having new in perfect condition never droped messed with that will be in whatever codition after time what youve done to it and theoredical peice of mind (just dont speak to orose) , or is the diferance of *2000 worth more in your pocket to be used for other things tbh its a personal thing which i completely understand both sides of me i am currently tempted to buy new but when i do the maths for me personally i think i'll get second hand again, but again that is me in my cercumstances (and as said before most likely cos i change my bike like my trousers) |

By the time you've calculated maintaince to an older bike ... theres not a lot in it probably ... If I had a garage, and my bike didn't spend its life sat on the streets, I'd buy new .... Anyway ... my question here is ... would you keep a bike longer if you bought it new, because its more 'yours' ........ the cars I've kept the longest have been new, and the ones I've swapped have been used !! |

I got my 3rd SV brand new because of 0% finance. I wouldn't have done it otherwise. It's great having a new bike, running it in is a pain in the **** though. I'll keep it for 3 years then it'll be gone.

Of course some money spent on track day insurance would have alleviated that particular issue anyway...

for me i didnt want another say 2k bike just to have it a year or two and then it be pretty much worthless. I cant afford to pay out right for a 5kish bike and by the time i got a loan on 5k i was looking stupid intrest levels at my age.
my best option was suzuki 0%. as it is actually 0% with none of the silly finial payments why not? This bike will easily keep me entertained for three years while im paying for it and i should see a reasonable amount of money back for it when and if im ready to sell. +1 for gap insurance silly not to really. scott |

Silly ?? .... urm .... I have a real problem with insurance .... its done on risk, and the 'chances' are you WON'T use it (and they make a profit) ..... so I never feel comfortable things like this .... so is it not silly to pay for something you'll probably never use ??
I can the arguements both ways .... but unless you are really strapped for cash I'd avoid things like this .... |
