I'd rather insure it fully comp but if I were to make a claim with a £500 excess I would probably only recieve about £1000 so there is no point paying an extra £500-600 for fully comp, expecially as losing my 1 yr no claims would add another £400-500 to next years premium.

Carole Nash were the cheapest for me, by a good £500+ when I insured mine with them last year. It did take me a fair bit of moaning and bartering though, but my quotes came in between the £400 I paid and £2500+ so there's definitely scope for a discount somewhere...

I caught MCE out at their own game last week, recorded our conversation and used it against them. Back in December they sent my renewal paperwork to me a week before my renewal but it was dated 4 weeks before (24th November), they then told me that it was dated correctly over the phone, I said 'yeah, anyone can change a date on a letter, but it seems, changing your franking machine isn't too good at hiding a date.'
'Ahh but Mr Plows our labels do not frank a date'
'Oh yes they do, it is dated the 12th December'
'Well it isn't Mr Plows because I can see it was sent on the 10th'
'Thank you very much, goodbye.'

Called back played conversation down the phone, they soon come up with an arrangement for me.

Have you looked at the co-operative insurence??
Got my car and bike with them, with europe cover, legal, pillion and anywhere break down in the Uk to my front door. Best price i found aswell.
So far they have been rather helpful and quick with a case thats still ongoing with mce, so nothing to do with them but they still help.....MCE who are utterly useless and illigal , theve even started making up legal documents and making me offers over the phone, but never in writing, seems they cant do simple addition.

Oh and the solicitors they offer you ....well the 1st one started signing things for me but never telling anyone.
I hate them completely as they have ruined the past 2 years of my life with there incomptence.

Watch this space... I have an experiment brewing to find out how many people they have lied to and upset

The gel seat alone must have knocked a couple of hundred off of that
