I don't think a lot of owners know whether their dog would bite an intruder or not. I don't, I know he looks and sounds pretty vicious, and I think he'd hold an intruder at bay, but I don't know if he'd actually bite somebody. Good thing about that is if the owner doesn't know, the pikeys can't know either!

99% sure she woldnt bite, shes been tought from 6 week not to bite. when playing i always try to tempt her into biting and any pressure and she got a slap, i couldnt take the risk of having her around kids etc.
First kid she met (who i didnt know) poked her in the ear then screamed in it, i shat myself praying she wouldnt bite him in the face. She didnt bite anyone but it didnt stop me barking a few choice words at the parents.
Like you said I recon its more the time it buys you, while an intruder is clueless themselves that give you the oportunity to tell them to beat it, or beat them depending on your mentality.
