l've had the pleasure to test out various degrees of biking gear when crashing and the things that for me are must haves are gloves, helmet and boots. Gloves especially. Other than that, jeans, combats all work. I wouldn't recommend coming off just wearing shorts (done that too in thailand) - that hurts!

Also remember that if you are getting too hot in your leathers, bikes do come with their own in built air conditioning. Its just under your right hand
