You can also use ones off Gixxers & also have heard that CBR600 ones fit.
You can get them off Ebay for not too much money, mine cost me about £30 if I remember. On my old Curvy I fitted a Gixxer600 one & that cost me a tenner off ebay ![]()

Find out what's wrong before replacing bits of bike.
Just a thought.

Got home this evening, tried to turn it on, fired up first time no problem?! Decided not to start messing with the electrics since it was chucking it down - and I don't have a garage, so will see whether it's taxi to work time again tomorrow morning or not. |

Was that after you charged the battery?Id still get the meter on it and check it all out,and Id check all the battery connections for tightness and good contact. Also the earths and feeds through starter relay to starter motor. The bike is getting on a bit and needs tlc from time to time.

Take it back to the nobber that sold it you - or has he flee'd the country?
As said it's worth getting a cheap multimeter and testing a few bits.

Are they? What percentage of SV reg/recs would you estimate have failed?

This hasn't been mentioned previously, so I might be totally wrong but it does sound a little like what I had a month or two ago, if so it might be worth your while just checking the ignition fuse. Mine did something similar and it took me an RAC callout and two days of stress to find out it was just a blown fuse.
Can't hurt to check in any case. |

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, I'll be having a good look over the bike this weekend (with someone a bit more knowledgeable all being well) so fingers crossed it's an easy (and cheap) fix!!
Oh, and yeah I know Numbers, quite convenient that he's not in the UK right now ![]() |

Sound advice above about checking what's actually wrong first.
Whatever you find, a high percentage of electrical problems are to do with poor connections, and that includes fuses. Go round as many connectors as you can get to and take them apart (there's usually a catch arrangement which has to be pushed in to get them apart). Get some electrical contact cleaner (Maplins etc) or at a push use WD40/ACF50 etc. Spray and push them together a few times to ensure a clean contact. Fuses are especially prone to corroding unless some sort of protection is applied, dielectric grease is perfect (you should already have this for the front plug cap anyway ![]()
